BECOME A UNITED STATES SOCCER FEDERATION REFEREE
Thank you for your interest in becoming a United States Soccer Federation Referee in Eastern Pennsylvania!
Being a soccer referee can be both rewarding and fulfilling. Whether for a young person learning responsibility or an adult contributing to the sport, referee training and development is the primary mission of Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association Referee Committee (EPSARC). To this end, EPSARC has established a process to ensure that every person who wishes to become a referee is afforded the opportunity to become a registered and certified soccer referee with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
ENTRY LEVEL REFEREE COURSE
The online Entry Level Referee course offers instruction to prepare an individual to become a USSF Soccer Referee.
Upcoming referees MUST be 14 yrs old prior to the field session. NO EXCEPTIONS!
To become a U.S. Soccer Referee, Candidates must:
- Create an EPSARC account
- Register for “Referee- Grade 8 Entry Hybrid”
- Select a Field Session on the Date/Time/Location of your choosing
- If a Field Session is not yet available, please register for “Pre-Clinic Only” to begin the Pre-Clinic Requirements.
- Complete the Pre-Clinic Requirements:
- Pennsylvania Background Clearances (NOTE: clearances may take up to 30 days to complete – allow sufficient time. Those under 14 will not be able to apply for them.)
- Online Modules
- Online Test
- All Pre-Clinic Requirements must be completed 48 hours prior to your Field Session
- If any Pre-Clinic Requirement is outstanding, the Candidate must reschedule to a different Field Session.
- Attend the Field Session
- Arrive with properly equipped as a Referee
- Uniform- shirt, shorts, socks
- Whistle, referee wallet, yellow card, red card, flags
